Students with school bags

The Ben Curtis Family Foundation was founded in 2013, after former PGA golfer and British Open champion Ben Curtis, and his wife Candace, watched a TV special on childhood hunger in America. The statistics were alarming as they realized hunger exists in their own backyard and in the schools their children attend.

Taking a Swing at Childhood Hunger in Portage County

No child should worry about when they’ll get their next meal. The Ben Curtis Family Foundation started the Birdie Bags program to send packages of food and toiletries home with food insecure kids over long weekends during the school year.

It takes a village to eradicate childhood hunger, but it only takes one person to begin the fight.
