The reality is that nearly 13 million children in the United States don’t have consistent access to nutritious food. Food is needed for an active and healthy life. The child food insecurity rate in Portage, Stark, and Summit County is 20 percent, or roughly 6,350 children in Portage County, 14,410 in Stark County, and 22,570 children in Summit County.
