Child Hunger Resources for Parents, Children and Families

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), over 16 million children in the United States don’t have consistent access to nutritious food. In northeast Ohio, the food insecurity rate for children under age 18 is 20 percent, or roughly 6,350 children in Portage County, 14,410 in Stark County, and 22,570 children in Summit County. When children are hungry, it’s harder for them to focus on learning and performing well in school. At the Ben Curtis Family Foundation, we know that more can be done to support children and families in the fight against hunger. Below, you’ll find some resources for parents, children and families experiencing hunger or working to combat this national epidemic.
